This weekend I was one of the many who ventured downtown for the Brewery ArtWalk. For any of you who were out and about on Nov. 1 for Dia de los Muertos, you will agree that Saturday was a testament to how absolutely gorgeous Los Angeles can be when we have that rare instance when the perpetual Summer season changes to Autumn in an instant.
Forecast: dreary with a slight chance of rain and the most incredible sunset I have witnessed in a while (see pictures below). After a lovely lunch at the Fisherman's Outlet downtown, where we sat underneath the outdoor tent and watched the first drops of rain fall, we headed to the Brewery , the live-work complex downtown on the border or Boyle Heights, for their semi-annual ArtWalk. If you missed it last weekend DO NOT sleep on it this Spring - it is definitely worth checking out.
The entire complex opened itself up to the public, the entry was free as was parking, which is unheard of in this city. Many artists who reside in the Brewery opened their homes/studios to the public to share their life's work, and shelter people from the cold. The outdoor areas were also utilized for outdoor installations including a traveling gallery in the form of the van seen below with the elaborate Dia de los Muertos mural on every side.

There was a live graffiti art installation underway at one of the entrances to the complex. The writers had music playing and a vibrant wall mural going on the side of one of the shipping containers outside.

At the base at one of the buildings sat my dream car, and a work of art in and of itself, the Porsche Carrera Speedster from the '50s. Yowza! I've never been so infatuated in all of my life.

Another artist I loved was Raven from 'Dirty Pretty Things' and her line of homemade candles, original prints and other mixed medium art pieces. Being the G. Stefani lover that I am, my friend bought me a print of the OC bad girl, which can be seen below and purchased thru her site on my beloved Etsy.
Here are just a few shots that I took of the gorgeous sunset on Saturday. Enjoy!
