Ska Girl

I've been a fan of Ska culture since I was a little girl. My childhood, live-in babysitter (hero) Chris Hines R.I.P was a huge influence on my musical interests early on. He and his bad-ass girlfriend, Cheri (who I hold responsible for my fascination with makeup and all things hot pink) used to blast Desmond Decker, The Specials and of course, The English Beat at our house at all hours of the day/night. Needless to say, I fell in love with Dave Wakeling and his ska crew a very long time ago. Since then I've seen them perform live probably more than any other band. I've always loved the album cover artwork on 'I Just Can't Stop it' and so I did a little research on the artist which turns out to be an English cartoon artist named Hunt Emerson (rad name). His cartoon influence definitely comes thru in his original 'Ska Girl' or 'Beat Girl' sketches. I think I may have just found my next tattoo. :)
