RISKY BUSINESS

The RISK show titled, 'TWENTY-SIX' came and went this Saturday at Track 16 Gallery and about 500 people ran through the spot to see the amazing show that RISKY put together for his first solo show in 26 years of graffiti writing. There has been a lot of love received by the graffiti blogs around the country but some of my favorites are the compilation of images that the Known Gallery (The Seventh Letter) blog posted and the URB.com interview between RISKY and URB writer, Jason Parham that posted on their site today. YES WE CAN!

Riding on the energy that this election has brought to our great nation, and Los Angeles in particular, there have been a groundswell of grassroots movements in the past few months. From Obama bake sales to live street art installations, and Shepard Fairy's HOPE poster wheat pasted everywhere you turn, people have taken it upon themselves to proclaim their support in a number of different mediums.

A friend of mine, photographer, Monica Orozco, inspired and anxious about the election yesterday decided to hit the streets to document (on film) the artwork that has surfaced in the last 21 months. Los Angeles, decidedly a pro-Obama city as was evident in the level of street art support that has captured the political mood of Angelenos. People "took it to the streets" to let everyone know who they favored during this election, and shouted their candidate quite literally from the rooftops all over LA.
